The short version

Coaching is a working relationship. These terms keep it clear: what you can expect from me, what I ask from you, and how we both leave if it isn’t working.

What coaching is, and isn’t

Coaching is a series of conversations about your work. It isn’t therapy, legal advice, financial advice or a guarantee of any result. If something needs a professional, I’ll say so and help you find one. The decisions in your company stay yours.

Booking

The first conversation is thirty minutes, free and without obligation. If we both want to continue, I send a short written proposal covering the length, schedule and fee. Work begins when you accept it.

Fees and invoices

Prices are per person and include sessions, messages between sessions and any stakeholder interviews. I invoice monthly, to you or to your company, and invoices are due within fourteen days. Fees are in US dollars and exclude any taxes that apply.

Moving or cancelling a session

Move a session at least 24 hours ahead and there’s no charge. Later than that, we’ll try to find another time. If we can’t, the session is billed.

Stopping early

You can stop at the end of any month, even inside a minimum term, by telling me. I may also end an engagement if I think I’m not the right coach for you, and I’ll refund any prepaid time I haven’t used.

Confidentiality

What you say in sessions stays between us. When a company pays, the sponsor hears only what we agree in writing at the start. The exceptions are rare: where the law requires it, or where I believe someone is at serious risk of harm.

Intellectual property

The frameworks, worksheets and written summaries I give you are yours to use in your work. Please don’t republish or resell them. The text and images on this site belong to Waymark.

Liability

I’ll do the work carefully, but I can’t promise outcomes and I’m not responsible for the decisions you make. To the extent the law allows, my total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid in the three months before the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of New York County.

Changes

If I change these terms, the new version applies to new engagements. Current clients keep the terms they agreed to unless we both agree otherwise.
